RYCT: a long-running project

Since 1997, the European Reminiscence Network has been developing a reminiscence project in which families who are caring for a relative with dementia at home can participate in a series of reminiscence sessions with professional and volunteer support. The purpose of these sessions is to engage people with dementia and their family carers together in remembering, sharing and recording their long lives.

Our projects:

On this website readers will find reports of two Partnership projects supported by the EU Lifelong Learning programme:

About the RTRT project

European Reminiscence Network partners set up and ran reminiscence groups in their countries and piloted a 10-session programme involving people with dementia and their family carers.

Supported by health and social care professionals, practicing artists and volunteers, these groups used creative arts and reminiscence to engage families in revisiting their past lives and celebrating them in the present.

On the pages of this website devoted to the RTRT project you will find the results of their work and some explanation of how they were achieved.

About the RYCTT project

This time, partners wanted to extend the reach of the RTRT project and ensure that there would be qualified group leaders in each country who could deliver the programme in the future.

As a partnership, we developed and tested a common programme involving a 2-day training scheme and a 4-6 month apprenticeship scheme.

The results of this project are reflected in the RYCTT pages of this site. Reports are often in the form of films and slideshows from partners, as this made it easier to cross the language barrier. The partners have worked hard to bring their experience to an international audience in a lively and engaging manner.
